Hi! I'm Lindsey.
I am honored and excited to work with individuals who are experiencing anxiety and/or OCD. A few reasons for this are:
1- There is a lack of awareness and understanding among the general public surrounding anxiety and OCD which results in people unknowingly suffering and others unintentionally adding to the suffering of others. Bringing awareness and understanding to the nuances of anxiety and OCD can motivate people to seek and receive help.
2- There are a limited number of clinicians who specialize in the treatment of anxiety and OCD. We know from research and clinical practice that there are certain treatments that can actually worsen OCD symptoms. However, when evidenced-based OCD specific treatments (like exposure and response prevention) are applied we can reduce the impact that the OCD cycle has on a person’s quality of life.
3- It is my experience that people who live with a high amount of anxiety and/or OCD are driven to worry because they are incredibly caring, perceptive, thoughtful, and compassionate people. It is a joy to watch them reconnect with these parts of themselves, step out of the anxiety bubble and live a more value-driven life.
4- I have the personal experience of living with anxiety and OCD. I know how burdensome it can be and the relief that comes from receiving effective treatment.
To be clear, in our work together, we will not focus on my experience of anxiety and OCD. We will focus on yours. Also, I do not believe that one must have a personal experience with a disorder in order to treat it effectively.
I wish I could provide some kind of guarantee that you will reclaim your life from fear and worry. While I can’t guarantee this, I can guarantee that you will be given the opportunity to receive evidenced based treatment from a knowledgeable, trained, and compassionate therapist who seeks ongoing training and consultation to provide specialized treatment to individuals suffering from anxiety and/or OCD.
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida serving clients virtually or in person in my office in Clemmons, NC.
Central Florida is where I grew up before moving to Alabama to attend college at Samford University followed by graduate school at the University of Alabama. I’ve lived in quite a few places since then but most recently my family and I moved from the Hampton Roads area of Virginia (where we were for 10 years) to Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
When I’m not working, I can be found hanging out with my husband and our two daughters, and loving on our pets. I enjoy being outdoors, spending time with family and friends, watching The Office reruns, dad jokes, viewing TikToks on Instagram, and ordering my groceries online.
