Great question! It’s not always obvious at first if the client/therapist relationship is going to work but you would likely know after 2-3 sessions whether a therapist is a good fit for you. Please speak up directly with your therapist about these kinds of concerns or questions. Therapy is a collaborative process and its ok to decide to try a different therapist.

Everyone is different! You could be someone that needs 2-3 sessions until you feel that you’ve met your goals. Others might see therapy as an indefinite part of their life.

Research shows that clients really notice improvements after about 6-8 sessions with many clients averaging about 18-22 sessions in total.

This will be an ongoing discussion between you and your therapist.
